Anyone bother with a coin counter?
Ken Layton:
Randy Fromm's site has meter hookup diagrams on his Super Secret Technical page.
JoeB:
I have one in mine..
it would be cool if I figure out how to reset it, and then hook it up so that the JPAC sends a signal to it when coin 1/2 is registered! Think of it is a counter that keeps track how many times you played your machine. :)
RayB:
I was wondering about that. MAME would have to support sending a signal out to the counter. I doubt it does that???
You could hardwire the coin switch to the counter but I don't think the voltage is high enough. (Coin switch is what, 5v? And the counter needs 12v?)
Ken Layton:
Coin counter meters are available in many different voltages. Here are the DC voltage ones:
4.5 volt, 6 volt, 10 volt, 12 volt, 24 volt, 48 volt.
Here are the AC voltage ones:
12 volt, 24 volt, 48 volt, 120 volt
Remember that ALL coin counting meters use a PULSE to operate. To apply a constant voltage to them will burn them up!

My cab's got a coin meter mounted over the coin box, under the mechs..... I left it unplugged (mainly because I'm clueless as to how to wire it). I also like being able to show it off as is so that people can see how much business the machine made when it was still a full working NBA JAM ;D
