Which Control Panel Layout & Why?

<< < (3/3)

mattv:
It has got to be A!

if you go with B you will have to stand at a funny angle to the panel, have your wrists on a weird angle and it will take ages to get used to.

SoundDoc:
I've decided to to with.......

"A"!

It was a easy decision after actually thinking about the dual controls in some games.  Thanks all!

Now its back to editing the design... and tonight, we paint!

Wow, that's kinda harsh...B got voted down hands down, and personally, I am of large mind AND body...so anything that will give player 2 more room is games with me.  I actually plan on making a setup VERY close to what the B setup is...but your vote seems to be locked, so I'm just voicing my opinion now.  I suppose it depends on how wide the panel actually is too.  Didn't notice if the dimensions were listed, but mine is going to be about 30" wide and I'm going the set up the joysticks at an angle so that I don't squash player 2...unless we're talking about ON the game.

Apollo:
Don't do it dude, you will regret it I'm sure.

SoundDoc:
I was thinking B as well, until the point about games like robotron, and smash tv, etc...  came up, where 1 player is using both joysticks. Having them at a angle to each other in that case would suck.
This panel by the way is 36" side to side, 16" deep.

I'm still messing around with the design, and adjusting it in autocad a bit, I think I'm going to round the front instead of the angle cuts as well. The only other idea I had was to include 2 more joysticks on the other side of the buttons for each player, and keep the angle.  I don't think being at a angle to the screen is that bad, happens all the time on 4 player cabs.

I'll post the changes later tonight after I get them drawn.
