CP too tight for a Pac-Man cab?
captainpotato:
Hi everyone,
Having postponed my Gauntlet cabinet until I have a larger house, I've started working on its replacement, a Pac-Man cab. I'm planning to build an upright full cabinet (the usual yellow one), which shall be used for games from the classic era until the late 1980s.
One concession that the design shall have will be a CP that has two joysticks and three buttons per stick (as shown below). However, as a Pac-Man cab is under 60cm wide, I'm concerned that the design I've done may be too cluttered and tight for two people to use effectively.
Am I just being too paranoid at this point, or is this a real concern? I have only just started thinking about it and collecting every bit of information that I can find in preparation, and would obviously much prefer to work this issue out before I go any further.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Anthony.

Sorry about the image width - I told Photoshop to scale it to 50% size, but it doesn't seemed to have bothered listening to me. That will teach me not to check images before I post them...

It might be a little tight, but shouldn't be a BIG problem.
Most of the classic cabs were approx. 24".
My cab is 25.5", and I don't have any problems getting two people on.
You might do a mockup of the CP, and play around with THAT before committing to anything though, just to make sure you'll be OK with it BEFORE you start any work on it.

Looks great. I don't think you'll a problem.

Thanks for the support - there's nothing like getting closer to one's friends, is there? ;) Mind you, I don't know if my partner would agree with that...
Pathdoc2 - I cannot take credit for the artwork, other than for the layout, as it's just scaled and repositioned versions from the one of the usual sources. Mind you, once I do the full scale version, the least I can do is contribute my modifications back, just in case anyone else likes their friends enough ;)
