What games use a spinner?

I used MAMEWAH's Input Type and Category (catlist) filters, to give a list of non-driving spinner games:
Guerilla War
Heavy Barrel
Ikari Warriors

Ok, these could be played with a spinner, but these are mechanical rotory joys, so a spinner will feel akward. Luckily you can interface the actual rotory joys to a pc :)

One of the reseason controls.dat started :) In reference to the person who quoted the project, realize that is a short list because there are only 511 games in the system right now. Please volunteer if you want more :) Also probably why Minwah posted his list...
In reference to beatmania, dial is a hack for the turn table. The actual controller did have a mechanism simular to the digital volume control on a stereo receiver.

For example, in Arkanoid, you can move the VAUS with either the buttons or the dial input

You can move it with buttons but not well. The buttons provide a direction but not speed, while the spinner provides both. You wouldn't be able to move quickly from side to side, which is essential for playing any "Breakout" type game. It's similar to an anlaog vs. digital joystick.

Right, I was merely trying to point out that MAME also lists buttons for movement in that game, even though the original used an optical spinner (I think) so you can't use MAME's indication of buttons for BeatMania to infer anything about the original game.

Can PC Stering wheels be used for mame driving games? if so, how? like the ones u see lined up at comp usa by the joysticks and gamepads.

Yes, but only for games supporting a 270 degree wheel.
(Pot based, self-centering, and have directional limiters, like an analog joystick).
Games that require the steering wheel to go all the way around repeatedly need a 360 degree optical wheel.
(Think BIG spinner).
