1"*1" strips of wood for inside cabinet?

Rough sawn, or were they planed? Typically rough sawn 1" is planed down to 3/4".
As another note, when using corner blocks, liberal use of glue is very important. The screws/staples are usually there to hold the blocks in place until the glue cures, which is where you get all the strength in the joint. I would caution against using rough sawn lumber for a glued joint, it doesn't make as strong as a bond.

I used, of all things, outdoor hardwood 1x1.25" stakes. You can buy a bundle of them for about $2.99 for 6 count 4' or 12 count 2' ones, Just saw off the end tapered part and then use them as the cross pieces.
Advantages: Hardwood so your screws CANNOT be drilled to far into them and end up poking out the other side.
Disadvantage: You will need to predrill and usually drill a countersink into them in advance.
I used it to build my last one that I routered in the cross pieces to provide extra strength when moving. I also used a caulk-gun tube of "PL 400" polyurathane glue. (It's stronger than the glue used in plywood). Suffice it to say that cabinet will not fall apart. The MDF will split before a side will come off.

Yeah they were planed, which surprised me for garden stakes. They turned out to be perfect for the job, and I only paid about $5 for about 15' of timber ( 3 stakes ).
On a side note I first of all tried to cut my 2X2's in to 1X1's with my skill saw, it wasn't pretty, lol.
Tilzs:
The 1X1s are in the same section as the dowel rods. Ask your clerk where the dowels are and you'll see the 1x1s in the same bin.

I used 2x4s and 2x2s inside my cabinet. Just buy a 2x4 and rip it lengthwise down the middle to get a 2x2, cheap and easy.
