Computer Requirements for Killer Instinct (.chd)

(1/2) > >>

Sylentwulf:
The highest end game that I can think of that I would want on my mame cab is going to be a .chd file - Killer Instinct.

I have a P3 866mhz that I can put a radeon 8500 in, with 768mb (or 1 gig) PC133 SDRam and a soundblaster live gamer card.

With windows XP, will that be good enough, or would that be cutting it too close (Will windows XP even run on that system?)

AlanS17:
Windows XP will run great on that machine. It doesn't have extreme requirements like everybody thinks it does. However, I doubt you'll be able to play KI with that setup - at least not in MAME. Try the KI emulator (I forget what it's called). It's known as the KIAME project, but that's not the name of the emulator itself. It will run KI with your computer's specs just fine.

Sylentwulf:
Actually, that's kind of what I'm trying to AVOID :) I want as few emulators as possible.

This computer (my main, P4, 2.8ghz, 768RDRam, Radeon 9000) plays it fine, but then, it plays ANYTHING fine. I'll probly start off with the "spare parts computer" and then upgrade when I get more money, or upgrade the chain of computers. (My main PC gets the good stuff, then that gets transferred to the wife/kids computer, which will then get transferred to the mame PC)

AlanS17:
My MAME PC is the best PC in the house. Any computer can type a paper, but not just any can emulate Cruisin' USA!!!

Sylentwulf:
Unfortunately, I have an online business between my website and ebay, and it plays my MMORPGS, so my main computer has to be my BABY.

The kids/wife's computer MIGHT end up being my mame computer. I've strongly considered that :)
