Help with Ultimarc T'ball mouse hack

Hey everyone,
I was after some guidence in regards to wiring an Ultimarc trackball via a mouse hack (Microsoft mouse).
I followed the guide seen on the Mamewah site, but have a few Q's:
Do you have to remove the emitter (white) LED from the mouse PCB? and if you do, do the holes have to be shorted out?
I hooked up the + and Gnd T'ball wires to the mouse (I found 5v using a multimeter) and the both pairs Green/Yellow wires (both axis) to the PCB where the black receiver was removed. Alas, it doesn't work. :(
I'm suspecting that it's something to do with active high/low? and wiring in some resistors. I can't find much info on this area, so help would be much appreciated.
Marked on the T'ball is S.T.C Rotterdam 22-0465.

You shouldn't have to remove the emitters. One thing you could check is that you have the trackball optics wired to the correct pins on the mouse board.

I bought a USB mouse hack from OSCAR for hooking up my Ultimarc trackball and haven't been able to get it to work either. I was guessing it had something to do with active high/low too, but haven't taken the time to check it out (still need to look up the resistors in my components "archive").

There's your wiring. I removed all buttons, emitters and detectors.
you will have to get 4 2200 ohm resistors and put them from the 5v line to each detector line (X+, X-, Y+, Y-) to bring it to active high. Search for more posts by me if this isn't clear.

OK, thanks guys I've got it sorted!
I'll summarise for others, as I found it hard to find info on Active Low/High trackballs and wiring the resistors.
My Ultimarc trackball is active low, so after wiring the cables to the mouse PCB, I installed the 4 2.2K resistors (RED/RED/RED colour bands).
This can be done at the trackball end, or on the circuit board of the mouse. I thought the resitors had to go onto the ends of each individual X/Y cables and then connect to the PCB ie between the PCB and the trackball. This was wrong. They just have to take the +ve voltage to the X/Y lines.
I've provided a rather lame diagram for others that need help in the future.
