Sub woofer
rchadd:
i am just making a list of stuff i need for my mame cocktail cab project.
just wondering is subwoofer is really required?
is was planning on fitting some car speakers. think is this ok?
BTW: are car speakers magnetically shielded? - don't want them to affect the monitor display.
plus not sure whther there would be roon for subwoofer in the table anyway...

No, it is not really required, and it is also incorrect for all but a tiny handfull of games. Most games had one cheap speaker.
Use cheap PC speakers for your cocktail, they are more than enough, and more than any real cocktail shipped with.
Zakk:
While I agree that keeping the "original feel" of the old games has some merit, I think they were hampered by the quality of the cheap old car speakers that the old games had. Have you heard joust, robotron and defender through a sub??? It's killer, and probably would get a huge thumbs up from the guys who programmed the games...
Just my $.02 :)

I agree, 'Killer' is definitely the correct phrase. I wouldn't have a cab without a sub.
Another $0.02, totalling $0.04. :)
rchadd:
but surely not so easy with a cocktail table cab?
