I-PAC/4 4th player not working

(1/3) > >>

mugopain:
I tried running Guantlet and only could get three players working.  The 4th player coinstart is the only thing that works pertaining to the 4th player.

I have it hooked up via USB on Win XP PRO AMD 1.3gig.  The swith is set to the "Mame" and "USB" positions
.
I ran the test procedure and it seems to work fine for that.  I also tried it in an N64 emulated game "Mario Party 2" via 1964.099 and same results as Gauntlet.

I also have not tried to reprogram using the ALT setting.

Anyone have a clue to what might be wrong?  TIA

Did you open up notepad to see if the joystick and buttons are outputting anything?

If I remember correctly, you need to 'turn on' the third and fourth players in MAME to get them to work the first time by programming them through the TAB menu.

I got my 4 player cab finished on the weekend and went through MAME to stick all the 4 player games in a seperate game list and test them all.  I found what Steve has pointed to, you need to program up the button config in ALL of the 4 player games for player 4 in the TAB menu the first time you use them (everything except the player 4 coin as you have already found).  With every game I tried players 1, 2 and 3 were already pre-set up but all the inputs for player 4 were listed as NA.  Once this is done you'll be up and running in 4 player heaven (as long as you have 3 friends).

jerryjanis:
Can't you simply remap the buttons in the "Input (general)" menu item in Mame's tab menu?  That would be a lot easier than remapping it for each individual game.

Ok, kewl.  Thanks for all the help.  I will give it a shot.  Now if only I can kick my kid and her friends off to fix it.. :o)

Thanks again
