coin door light hack
SirPeale:
What kind of coin door do you have?
I was referring to an existing socket, putting either a 14v or 12v bulb into it and connecting that to your 12v on the PC power supply. This stiff wire thing, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Can you supply a picture?
reebboy:
It's just an old Midway door. The wire is just a hook to hang the bulb on.
Thenasty:
thats not for hanging a bulb, thats a KEY HOOK. Sometime the operator use the KEY HOOK to hook the backdoor key so they don't have to carry it around.
Ken Layton:
Thenasty is right. That's a key hook for the cabinet's back door key.
If anyone wants to install lights on a Midway door that doesn't have lights now here's what you need to order from Marco Specialties (www.marcospec.com):
2 # 077-5026-00 wedge base lamp sockets ($1.50 each)
Then go to your local auto parts store and get either a couple of #194 lamps or # 161 lamps. These are 12 volt bulbs. To power these bulbs you can get either # 273-1352 or 273-1511 transformer at Radio Shack.
reebboy:
I never new that.. I swear I've seen people hang bulbs from it. Learn something new every day.
I'm just looking for a simple setup to hook a light on the hook so it shines through the plastic 25c piece. It seems to be in a perfect location for a bulb. If I could find what I need to shorten a 100 bulb xmas light set down to 2 bulbs I'll be set. The bulbs are bright and seem to produce very little if any heat.
