Need help with Trackball to mouse hack
Blakey:
Saw your post on alt.games.mame. Not getting enough love here?
Just pulled my new suzo apart and guess what? model 22-0435 has the same optics as yours, right down to the separate emitters and detectors.
So you can waltz on over to ultimarc and check out the wiring diagram there! Or I could tell you which is which I suppose.
Ok, looking at Mar28005.JPG and starting from the left, you have ground, signal, signal, 5V. (black, green, yellow, red)
On my pic the 5V points are empty, but that was before I put in leads to power the tball. I took both points off, one powers one optic and also goes through 2 resistors to the signal lines and the other does the same thing for the other optic.
As far as which is X/Y and pos/neg, you'll have to figure it out yourself. Connect the wires until you get it right, then solder/fit a multipin plug. In my pic the red/yellow pair is X, the blue/green is Y.
HTH.

One last quesiton blakey, So is yours a active low or high ?
Looking at this diagram
http://www.wicothesource.com/new2/pages/page89.htm
and comparing it to my drawing I take it it is already active high and I won't need to add the resisters correct?
Again hugs to ya'!

^^^ I used resistors, mine is active low.
If your circuit is the same as 29-0210, i.e. the 5v runs into the detectors as well, then yes, it's active high. Easiest way to find out is to hook it up to your mouse and see if it works. If it doesn't add resistors on all four signal lines and try again.
