Wiring LEDs to my PS2 PCB board?

(1/1)

Hellfromabove:
Hey guys, I have some translucent buttons for a dual panel I am building and I wanted it to have like an LED per button. I know that some might say just put a florecent light but I can't because the control panel is removable so I kinda wanted to power it up from the PCB. Now I know that you all know that every PS2 PCB has a 5v+ current running from it. I was wondering if that would be enough to run about 9 LEDs? Please reply. Thanx.

I'm certainly no expert on this (just barely getting the hang of it myself), but my understanding is that no, it work work.  See RandyT's response here when I asked a very similar question a year ago.  :)

Well, you should always use caution, when it comes to this stuff, but you can probably get away with it.

Just be warned, though, that too many LEDs and/or sloppy wiring can cause permanent damage to your motherboard.

Nine LEDs should pull less than 200ma so it's not all that much.  It depends on your MB.

It's your call.   :)
