Application Bonanza!
« on: March 10, 2004, 05:35:12 pm »
That's right kiddies everything must go!
My virtual warehouse of unfinished applications is full so I must liquidate all of my virtual assets to make more room and prepare for spring, in which you won't see me for a while.  So I've decided to send the savings on to YOU!!

Within the next week(s)  you will see new versions of the following:

Dragon King, with some major new options a few people might drool over. Of course usual bug fixes apply.

Skinner App, with much needed bug fixes and updated options.

Skins. That's right I said skins!  What are they based upon? It's a suprise. ;)

Emusaver 3.0.  Just when you thought I had abandonded the poor app it comes back strong with updated new options and better stability.

cmd-launcher 7  New version that fixes various emusaver, related command-line switches and actually shows the usage when you click on it.  That's right boys and girls, now you, the consumer, can see the dirty, little, hidden, switches you aren't supposed to know about!

Weblauncher 2.0.  Removed the stupid scrollbar and added a New "set resolution"  option so those tiny web games can be blown up to near full screen.  I might have time to add in a pop-up blocker for those annoying wildtangent pop-ups.

But wait there's more!!

Included with this batch are 2-3 never before seen bonus apps.  What will they do?  What are they for?  It's a suprise!

To recieve all of these fine products at no cost to you simply log on to:

And stay apprised of current releases as they unfold.

Also check this thread for release dates and further developments.

So what are you waiting for?  Operators are standing by!!

Offer not valid in Crapastan, Quter-Mongolia and lamer parts of Canada.  Applications are not guaranteed to be cool or not suck.  The "superhype" thread format and "superhype" advertising style are copyrighted trademarks of Deadman Inc., all rights reserved.

I'm sure if more submissions where made for the project so that the total of supported games was much higher, then Howard would probably move some of his attention towards the viewer.  But, as this isn't the case at the moment - the viewer probably isn't a priority. :-\

actually, in the midst of homework this weekend I plan on updating controls.dat to .80.  Well, at least database support, maybe not php support yet.  HC is wiating on me so he can support any new features.

What he said.... Actually that's the whole basis of the "liqudate my virtual assests to make room" stichk.  The controls.dat viewer is by far my most complex project and when I work on it I have to abandon everything else.  I know it doesn't seem like it, but all of that multi-teir parsing and mame constant to key translation is tough!

A quick update on what is going on:

The main bonus app is coming along nicely.  Per your voting I am concentrating most of my time on the mess utility.  I normally don't brag about my own stuff, but I must say, this is by far the most useful thing I've ever created.  Also for those of you who are worried about speed issues (dk's generation is rather slow)  I was lucky enough to run across a crc checking class written in assembly.  For non-programmers, this means fast.  Like do all of your snes roms, rename them and rename their artwork in under 15 seconds fast.  :)

For those of you wondering, yes there will be a new dk, with spiffy new features and yes there will be new skins, as promised.  The hold up is one of the bonus apps interacts with dk's core, so i'm waiting to finish it prior to a release.

So in closing... sit tight people, I'm about a week behind on my schedule but I'm dedicated getting these things out before I dissappear into the night.

M.E.S.S.-ed utility released!

This thing uses the vast databases included with the M.E.S.S. emulator to manage your roms and artwork files for any system emulated by mess. It can also be used as a dat generator for misc emulators like visual pinball. It does far too many things for me to explain here, so check the readme for more info.

Go get it on the misc utilities section on the Lazarus/Dk homepage.

Howard,

Forgive me, I haven't downloaded the program yet, nor read the readme, but before I do, I want to know if the program will create dat files for any emulator--not just MESS.  The said this "It can also be used as a dat generator for misc emulators like visual pinball."  Which misc emulators will it work for?  Basically, I would like to create dat files for all my console roms so that I can use those files to filter out certain roms in the frontend that I use--MAMEwah.  I dont use MESS, but use others such as Gens, Visualadvance, etc.  Will this utility accomplish this and will those dat files be usable for any emulator or frontend to use for filtering functions.  Thanks.

Ok I'm back from my April foolishness, so back to business:

Bounus App #3 Microsoft Pinball Arcade Wrapper

In my opinion, the finest set of pinball tables ever to be simulated on the pc has to be the Microsoft Pinball Arcade collection.  They are arcade perfect in every way.  Unfortunately the gui of the pba collection is mouse driven, making it hard to navigate on a normal cabinet.  I have fixed that with this wrapper, allowing you to run the tables individually, or as a whole in the pba gui.  Navigation can now be done with the mame defaults (on a keyboard), the coin buttons work, and the tables and gui can be exited with a single press of the exit key.

This is the first in my line of wrappers used to take "arcade collections" for the pc and make them playable on a mame cab.  If you have a suggestion for a arcade collection that needs wrapped please feel free to contact me.

The wrapper can be found on the wrappers page of my website as usual.

Ok guys only the release of DK and a few suprises remain.  I hope you are all excited, because boy I am!  Of course I knwo what you'll be getting, so I have reason to be excited.  ;)
