(1/1)

JimmyU:
According to a Reddit post, Arcade 1Up will shut down before the end of the year.

I feel like everyone knew this would happen for a couple reasons, but the biggest reason to me is that is was built on a fad that also ended. Even if they had an inexpensive product and higher quality products. To me, the Arcade1up explosion was great for a couple reasons:

* The masses allowed the development of several great innovations like a less expensive Star Wars controller and 4/8 way switchers
* I refurbed lots of games during this period and sold some for top dollar because of the increased demand

so, after all this.

they never did shut down.

their assets were bought by basicFun. a much larger company.

so in fact, the 3/4 scale market is continuing, just like it did before.
but with much less releases.

- return of the jedi
- arcade classics with centipede

a new title - wrestlefest

several different countercades
- asteroids
- centipede
- wrestlefest
- tempest

they are also introducing Supreme editions, which are near full scale arcade height, 19 inch monitors,
better controls etc.

another company - iconic arcade - which is made of ex-arcade 1up members, have released
- street fighter 2/ street fighter alpha 2 full size

they are getting ready to release double dragon, and up to 3 more cabinets this year.
