whats the best way to use 2 monitors?
(1/1)
abispac:
I’ve got two R5 430 cards and I’m trying to build my last cab with a dual-screen setup. The main goal is to play Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! properly, but I’d also like to use the second monitor as a marquee display for most other games.
Here’s where I’m stuck:
EmuDrivers detects both cards.
I installed the drivers and Windows 11 recognizes both cards.
I’m running the latest GroovyMAME.
In VMMaker, I see a bunch of AMD monitors listed, but they all appear as enabled no matter which one I choose.
In Windows, I only see my current LCD monitor and one CRT monitor (eventually I’ll remove the LCD once everything is working).
I’ve searched online but couldn’t find any guides that cover this setup on Windows 11. Does anyone know the proper way to get this working with GroovyMAME? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi abispac,
You don't need 2 video cards for that. Just one of those can be connected to 2 monitors simulaneosly, through VGA and DVI-I. You need to enable edid emulation and install video modes on each output separately. Then make sure Windows is configured with extended desktop, not cloning the display. Finally configure MAME for dual screen.

A card, that is on the list of known working cards, with both VGA and DVI-I out.
You may need to browse some models and specs. FWIW I have some HD6450 cards that have both VGA and DVI-I, work with CRT_emulator and Atom-15 too. Maybe start looking around that vintage.
