I'm looking for a scan converter to convert medium resolution 25kHz / 60Hz signal from a 15D VGA arcade board to a standard resolution 15kHz / 60Hz as RGBs. I'm trying to use a normal TV with my arcade board, but would like to get the best image I can at a reasonable price.
I've found two old business grade devices that can maybe do this:
1. AVerMedia AVerKey iMicro PC/Mac to TV Scan Converter
2. TView Gold PC-to-TV Converter
The Averkey was going to be my choice originally as its specs list my input resolution as one it can accept, it is simply plug and play, and has a VGA style output that is supposed to be for RGB SCART. What I don't know is if it will output that SCART signal as 50Hz (per the SCART standard) or if it'll match the input signal which is 60Hz.
The TView Gold also has an RGB output via a weird 9-pin S-video port, and it has a PAL/NTSC switch so you get to force whichever timing you want (50Hz or 60Hz). What the specs don't tell me is if it'll accept a 25kHz signal, and if I need to install the software that comes with the device. I suspect the software is just for adding features to the PC the device is connected to, like using the remote as a laser pointer and plopping fonts onto a presentation or whatever.
Both are somewhat of a mystery to me, but I thought maybe someone has had some experience with these before and can chime in.
I know the Extron scan converters are likely the best, but they're still a little pricey, even the VSC 500.
