Taking inspiration from Howard's work on OR2FXT, a gentlemen who goes by the name "emoose", has decided to further improve upon the game by releasing a new tool/wrapper that fixes several issues and enhances the game in many ways! It's called "OutRun2006Tweaks" and you can find it here:

https://github.com/emoose/OutRun2006Tweaks/releases

Highlights include:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Bugfixes:

UI can now scale to different aspect ratios properly without stretching (requires UIScalingMode = 2 in INI)
Prevents save corruption bug when remapping controls with many dinput devices connected
Fixed C2C ranking scoreboards not updating on Steam and other releases due to faulty anti-piracy checks
Pegasus animation's clopping sound effect will now end correctly
Lens flare effect now loads from correct path, without needing to change game files
Fixed Z-buffer precision issues that caused heavy z-fighting and distant object pop-in
Stage objects such as traffic cones now only disappear once they're actually off-screen
Fixes certain effects like engine backfiring which failed to appear when using controllers
Text related to the now-defunct online service can be hidden

Enhancements:

Built-in framelimiter to prevent the game from speeding up
FPS can now be partially unlocked, drawing at unlocked FPS while game runs at 60FPS tickrate
UI and game scene textures can be dumped & replaced
Allows disabling vehicle LODs, reducing the ugly pop-in as they get closer
Restored XInput rumble code from the Xbox release, allowing gear shifts/drifts/crashes/etc to give feedback
Xbox Series impulse triggers are supported and can be tweaked inside INI
Anisotropic filtering & transparency supersampling can be forced, greatly reducing aliasing around the edges of the track
Reflection rendering resolution can be increased from the default 128x128
Game can now run in borderless windowed mode; mouse cursor will now be hidden while game is active
Automatically disables DPI scaling on the game window, fixing certain scaling issues
Load times heavily reduced by disabling framelimiter/vsync during load screens
Music can now be loaded from uncompressed WAV or lossless FLAC files, if they exist with the same filename
Allows intro splash screens to be skipped
Music track can be changed mid-race via Q and E buttons, or Back/RS+Back on controller (CDSwitcher must be enabled in INI first)

All the above can be customized via the OutRun2006Tweaks.ini file.

FPS can be partially unlocked by increasing the FramerateLimit setting above 60 (or disabling it), with FramerateUnlockExperimental enabled.
This will then lock the games tickrate to 60FPS while draw-rate itself is unlocked, allowing game speed to stay consistent.

Absolutely wild! Haven't had a chance to try it out yet 'cuz I'm still admittedly balls deep into WMMT6 and Initial D 0, but lemme know what you guys think of it!

Just came back from playing, really well done  :applaud:

I love the (FINALLY!) fixed in-game UI and the variable aspect ratio between menus/gameplay plus the collection of small fixes that all work together (exhaust flames, lens flares etc). The added upgrades for modern PCs are a nice bonus, like the option to remove the aggressive LOD management. All easy to do thanks to a dedicated .INI file.

All we need now is a 4 hour video special by MrThunderwing  8)

Are you guys by any chance able to make it work *WITH* FXT? What do you have to do?

I haven't had a chance to try the new exe (impressive btw) but it looks like the author used a lot of proxy dlls.   If that's the case then the memory locations I normally read for data are probably in new locations.   I'm honestly not sure if I have it in me to find them all again and it looks like this new exe/dll does a lot of the things I was working towards anyway.  I'll look when I have time (which is never these days).

Good to hear from you bro.

Admittedly, I haven't tried it yet either lol.

I have to be brutally honest guys. I might be done with ALL the PC versions of OR2 for good.

Two main reasons....

1)While this new hack/patch/whatever is absolutely cool and impressive, you're still left playing the base game. The idea of playing the vanilla version of C2C without Howard's stage editor honestly does not appeal to me. I really only go back to the PC version for that specific feature because it just absolutely RAWX!!!!!!!!!!!!

2)Now lets talk about FXT. While I love FXT to bits, I tried playing it a couple weeks back and for the *LIFE* of me, could not get it working properly with my steering wheel. I don't know what I changed a couple years back when I last played it, but the damn game simply won't cooperate while trying to assign my steering wheel, shifter and pedals. Just constant episodes of the menu going crazy, going up and down by itself, having to hold down the keyboard key just to make it stay still, etc. It's just an extremely frustrating series of trial and error getting this game to work properly with my wheel. Keep in mind, I only have two controllers plugged into my PC...my Xbox 260 controller and my (emulated)Logitech G29 wheel. But even unplugging the xbox pad, and running with just the wheel, it *STILL* acts funky.

After the smooth experience of playing the game in TeknoParrot, where all my controls are already functioning beautifully and all I need to do is simply click on the game and play, going back to the PC version is just too much of an exercise in tedium.

I might give it another try, make a few tweaks here and there, and see if I have any luck but man....

I've been using FXT for a while and I've only just discovered that this exists. I'm a little confused though, should this give me force feedback or do I still need to run FXT in conjunction with it?

You need FXT to get force feedback. "OutRun2006Tweaks" does not support FFB. Also you cannot use them both in conjunction with one another. It has to be one or the other.

That's a shame. FXT's feedback isn't perfect but I can't imagine playing the game without it anymore. Perhaps I'll also move over to TP.

*ding*ding*ding*!!!

The best choice and the best way to play the game. FFB is superior as well. Not to mention seamless online MP, high score support and leaderboard support.
