CRT Switchres in Retroarch on Dosbox Pure?
« on: June 06, 2024, 05:52:48 am »
I'm running a Radeon 5450 as the video output for emulating using my RTX 3080 as the workhorse. I'm mostly concerned with trying to output DOS games in their original resolutions to an HP vx74 VGA monitor. I've been trying all day with CRUEmudriver and custom modelines but I don't know if Retroarch's default settings for a 31kHz/120hz monitor are what I should be using or if I should be making a custom range in switchres.ini.

I don't even know for sure that the games in Dosbox Pure are even requesting the original resolutions from Retroarch, as I've definitely set up a working text-mode modeline for 720x400 @ 70Hz that works in regular Dosbox with the right .conf file settings.

All I know is that attempting to run games at 640x480 looks pretty bad when aspect correction needs to be employed, especially for text-mode games. I don't know if that's Retroarch's fault or what.

Any help is appreciated. I would rather not have to use high resolutions with scaling and bi-linear filtering, or any filters, really.
