Yet Another Project That Takes Forever (YAPTTF)
harri:
Yoke woodready.
Could have been lower but doesn't block the view while playing. I haven't tested all yoke games so it may have one button hole too much, not sure if any game needs the one player button or can you start all games by pressing fire.
Since it's just opening couple of screws to get this for painting cabinet will be a yoke/light gun cab for some time. And when I get first four modules (1 player, 4 player, yoke and light gun) completed it's time for winter break during which I'll investigate if I'll go easy of good route for 360 wheel. Easy route is to buy three spinners from GSR and wheel addons for them. Good route would be an order from Suzo Happ but then I have to investigate what components I need and how do I get them as an USB device.
There are two reasons why I'm leaning towards Suzo at the moment, first is that the addon is on small side, 20cm in diameter and while it's not smallest I've seen i think it may be too small. Other is pedals, it seems that I need two pedals for player one and one pedal each for players two and three but only solutin I've found so far (apart from buying cheap wheel sets and using their pedals) is to get pedals from Suzo Happ which means that if I have to get them to work with USB why not the wheels at the same time.
And I'm on third plan for spinner module, while I pondered making two single player modules and attaching the first modile either on middle or left side depending if it's alone or with second module I think fastening of the modules is easier if I have separate one player and two player modules. So it's either that or asymmetrical configuration where one player module stays in the middle and second module is added next to it when there is second player but I despise the idea of control panel not being symmetrical. Problem is that it seems to be only two player module so I would need to build half size dummy modules to sides only because of it, in asymmetrical configuration I can use same module on left that is there on single player configuration.

Well, that didn't take long... But now it's alive(ish).
Paintjob didn't happen as planned so the whole project ended in hiatus. Finally I decided to bring the four player modules to use with some paint on them so that I can use the cabinet until the one player module is (hopefully) someday painted properly. I decided to do it this way since anything that can be played with the one player module can be played with this too. As observant persons can see these modules aren't finished yet, only 1 player part is somewhat ready, only thing missing from it is the 4-way/8-way part.
It ended up to P4 - P1 - P2 -P3 order because I'll be always player one and that means that when playing two or three player games I have the whole left side, I have to squeeze between two other people only when playing four player games. (Or when playing Gauntlet as warrior with elf and valkyrie.) I should get this fairly fast to fully functional, only possible hiccup I can think of is that Ipac doesn't play well together with the second control board (for which I don't even remember the brand anymore...) but Ipac seem so configurable that I don't expect it to be a problem even if the other board won't be.
Biggest problem of the long hiatus is that I've moved my budget towards other interests so even if these three panels will be ready I don't know when I'll start making the additional panels. Which will be single player panels only, except for 360 wheel, since the closet I'm planning to store the unused panels isn't that big when you start putting them in. So at the moment there are plans on building three 360 wheel panels, one trackball panel and one panel that has a spinner and buttons for Track & Field. And of course the two cover panels on the sides.
harri:
Left side wired. Not final since I decided to use Ipac4 with quick connector for wires from right side but since I've made myself a deadline for next Saturday I'll do first version so that both sides have an Ipac2.
First test was with Defender. Sort of last minute decision because Defender is first arcade game I've ever played, aboard Viking Sally that people sadly remember with its last name, Estonia.
It's little premature since the Yoke is in wood-ready form and the right side is not wired but since I've played Star Wars and tested Defender, Temple of Doom and Gauntlet with this I dare to say that I have a working modular arcade cabinet!!!
