UltraStik 360 USB working everywhere but RetroPie Main menu

Running on a RP4

I have 4 UltraStik 360s that are working in mame without a problem. But I'm having issues with them on RetroPie main menus and game select.

I did have player 1 and 2 joystick working in the main menu before, but then I reset all controllers and haven't been able to get back to that state. I feel like I'm missing something dumb

Do you have a button hooked into the U360 that you can use to set up that stick in Retropie? It may mess up your MAME joystick set up though. I had to hook up a button temporarily to get it to see the joystick (you have to hold down a button when setting up a controller in Retropie and it does not recognize a direction as a button).  if you can hook up a button, tell it you want to set up a new controller and then it should see it when you hold down the button you hooked into the U360.

I don't have one into the joystick unfortunately. My buttons are all connected into the Ultimate IO board.

I'll keep digging and see if I can find what's going on. PS4 controller is fine in the menus so that's my work around for now.

I think there is a way to alter the config file but I don't know which one or what needs to be added. The U360 should have 5-8 pins on it or something like that. One is ground and the rest are for buttons. If you just connect a couple wires to those, you can use it as a temp button. Good luck.

I think I found at least a log showing my problem. ES_LOG event after exiting the retroarch gui. Not sure what this looked like when it was actually working on the system. I'll work up the temp button for now..
