Has anyone managed to fit a circular or octagonal restrictor plate onto the MiniGrip?
I've now got it in a cabinet where I'm playing games like Mad Planets and Forgotten Worlds, but the sharp 8-way corners are clunky as hell.

Since your previous restrictor mod was drilling out the mount holes on a Zippyy/LS-32 restrictor, have you looked into modding an LS-32 restrictor like one of these?  Not sure if the last two will work on the MiniGrip, but the Triple should work with the same mods you did on your previous one.
  Triple (round/4-way/2-way) - https://paradisearcadeshop.com/products/seimitsu-ls-32-triple-restrictor-plate
  Circle - https://paradisearcadeshop.com/products/seimitisu-ls-32-circle-restrictor-plate
  Octagon - https://paradisearcadeshop.com/products/seimitsu-octagonal-gate

If you have access to a 3d printer, you might try modding these restrictors, either by printing the .stl and drilling it out or by modifying the .dxf or .step files.

If those files don't work, it shouldn't be too hard for me to make a customizable restrictor in OpenSCAD.

So the triple arrived and I hacked it to fit (snips to trim and a drill to widen the holes).
Pretty tight, but made it on.
Feels marginally better now, but wondering if the square hole on this joystick is bigger than the LS-32 as still not as smooth as I thought, although I have never used a circular restrictor before.
Thinking a octagonal might actually be optimal.
You can actually take the face plate off and maybe sandwich a restrictor underneath it.
Got the other two restrictors you flagged as well, so might try that next.

On closer examination, I'm pretty sure the linked circle and octagon restrictors won't work well because they are thicker than the triple and they won't seat on the alignment nubs of the MiniGrip.

If you want an octagon restrictor, probably the best approach is to make a 3d printed one.
- A sandwiched restrictor would probably work well.
- LMK if you want a parametric OpenSCAD model where you can choose the restrictor type (circular, octagonal, 4-way/TRON diamond) and adjust the size by changing a few variables. (no fancy coding skills needed)
