Paige gathered alot of marquees and it was upped as a bit torrent a long time ago.  Unfortunately, I think the torrent is down now.

Actually he didn't gather marquees... at least not many... he made his own.  While I think this is pretty cool I would never ever use a "fake" marquee myself.

I remember they were available for a short time using bittorrent to distribute. I tried to get a hold of them, but it was not meant to be.

Here's the old thread

well, yeah.. if you notice i was the last one to post stating the torrent was dead!

anyway...i gave up at that point and would like to find some better marquees....

so if someone has them, i am willing to host them for a while. until my bandwidth starts going overboard..but i have 20 GB worth just wasting away. so someone give me the darn things!

I've been starting to collect 'additional' marquees that aren't in any of the sets that I have (and control panels as well)

Anybody that wants to help, let me know.

I can start giving you the new marquees if you want. After I get that taken care of, I'll start looking for 'better' marquees to replace the current ones.

What size is the Paige's Marquee archive?

If someone could split it into a few rars and post it to alt.binaries.emulators.mame it would give a lot of us a chance to get hold of it.

PM me to remind me to check when I get home. I think I have the marquees from the original post although I'm not sure it's them: how do I tell that what I have is what you're asking for?

Just in case I have the right stuff, let me know in your PM how I can get the archive to you, ideally I'd rather FTP it to you, it's more than likely too large for email and I can't host them at this time.  I've downloaded stuff using bit-torrent but I don't know how to setup a tracker and seed a torrent...

The zip I have is 195 MB.  Unfortunately, I dont have access to newsgroups.  Otherwise I would post them.

Yes, I have the Marquees. I am going to split the file into smaller files, then post them on a page for people to download. Since I do have a limit on bandwidth, anyone else that can host them should download them and do so. If you email me links, I will add them to the webpage (coming soon).

Great to hear... contact stuzza, he may be able to host them.

Btw I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but paige was going to make "real" neogeo marquees based on my restored mvs marquee image and the inserts you currently get with the official mame packs.  This way they take up the usual space.  I don't think he ever got to it.

Thinking on it now I can probably make a small utility that could auto generate them for me.  It's not a big priority right now but I'll look into it.  The good news is when i do it it'll take a day instead of a few weeks to convert the whole batch.  :)

Ok, I put together a simple webpage, and am in the process of uploading the files right now. Mirrors would be useful. PM or email me with mirror links!

The link to the marquees is: www.starchicken.com/mame

The files will be available in about in hour.  ;D

magnet... your first pack isn't working.... it's because you have a "#" in the name of the zip....

Big no no as your webbrowser thinks it's the beginning of some script.

I guess I'll join the bandwagon and mirror them too.

http://www.thatinter.net/marquees/

(uploading is complete and they are good to go for now)

I don't think bandwidth will be an issue (it isn't limited and I'm sitting on several multi-homed T3s) but if the site slows down for some reason (if the server itself runs into a problem) I may be able to move it somplace that might handle it a bit better.

For now I'll even leave the .tar file of them all if you just want to try grab them in one big chunk.

Share and enjoy :)

You can get the Neo Geo MVS Marquees on my site: www.starchicken.com/mame

I think I am going to repack the existing Marquee Files with these, but also still leave this file available for those that want to just replace them. I also have the MVS inserts by themselves which I will make available soon...  8)

There are marquees that have been unavailable,. Peale made his own, so they are missing in your FE. Some of them seem to be made from flyers, some from screen shots of the game. As time goes by, hopefully we can replace them with the actual marquees.  8)

There are a lot of missing marquee's in the offical marquee pack.  The missing ones from the official pack are bad if you are running a front end because the marquee image will be blank.  Paige replaced many of the missing marquees with marquees he created.  A lot of them are title screens.  Now there are fewer missing marquees  :D

What the others said.  Unfortunately I don't think this is such a good idea.  The "fakes" look really nice, but some look so nice that people might mistake them for the real thing and thus won't be on the lookout for the originals.  With everyone's permission, I'll try to sort out the "fakes" later on so that they can be available in a seperate pack.  This way it will be easy to have a definative list of missing marquees so everyone can periodically check ebay and google for the missing artwork.

You can get the Neo Geo MVS Marquees on my site: www.starchicken.com/mame

Your NeoGeo link is pointing to the 'mamemarquees_w-z.zip'

I've got a little excess bandwidth to spare (about 3gigs a month). I think mirroring all the packs might put me over my limit, but I'll see if I can mirror a few and see how the bandwidth goes.

I actually DID manage to locate somewhere around 100-200 previously unavailable original marquees.

The rest (the fakes).

Are either

Modified title shots (extremely easy to spot these).

Scratchbuilt using graphics from flyers, sideart, console versions, or whatever else I could find to use. These range from easy to spot to almost impossible to spot. Some I spent seconds on, others I put quite a bit of time on. A few I was able to find an unusable marquee image (too small, and angled, etc), and was able to mostly reproduce the darn thing.

Then there are a few that are simply the plain title in the Atari font (easy to spot).

Finally, one game (Qwak, or Quak, or whatever it is), has a marquee from a different game with that same name.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

OOPS! I blew it again! Sorry! Ok, I fixed the link...

Uh, as far as your mirror.. I can tell you I used up 3GB in bandwidth in about 1 1/2 days of this posting! I am going to run out fast...that's why I am asking for mirrors!  I don't think your 3GB will help too much. Unless you host only one small file.

Anyway, sorry about the screw up with the MVS link, and ENJOY!!!!
