Where the colors distorted at parts of the tube or everywhere the same distortion? (e.g. one color missing? there are some pretty testpicture-programs out there that could help you with this) If you switch your tv on (using the switch on the TV, not on the remote-control), degaussion should automatically appear, on most TV's you'll hear a loud sound when this happens. Very loud when it's a Sony. ;) The colors should then get right again. Also, color distortion are very likely to appear when you move the TV while it is currently running or was just running a few minutes ago. I've seen the permenant discoloration happen before but only when speakers or large magnets are involved. Personally I will only work on a tv if it's face down. It' keeps the heavy picture tube flat and stable and if by some reason I were to break the tube, the imploding glass won't bounce back and fly all over the room. |
