Sony PVM-20L1 Trinitron Color Video Monitor to SNES
« on: October 21, 2015, 11:30:48 am »
Hi guys,  please forgive me as I'm incredibly new to this sort of setup -- I'm seeing a lot of posts kinda about this, but I'm having trouble understanding everything since a lot of the concepts are new to me.

I recently received (for free) a Sony PVM-20L1 monitor.  As far as I can tell these Sony PVM's are really nice when you properly combine them with retro systems (my focus is SNES).

I've taken a photo of the connectors at the back (attached).

Now, currently I have both composite connections out from my SNES and also the option for S-Video.

My question is if I can just get a BNC Female to RCA Female, connect that to Video In on the Monitor, and connect the video (yellow RCA) to the connector.  Then just get a stereo to mono adapter, connect it to Audio in and the White/Red RCA to the adapter.  Will that work or will I need to use the Y/C In (which I understand as sync)?  Or.... can I just connect my S-Video directly to the Y/C In (if so what do I do about audio)?

I've seen a lot of people mention SCART cables and SCART adapters... I don't have any experience with that sort of setup, but would that be better? What would I need in that scenario?

Again sorry for my complete noobness on this topic.
