WG Monitor
« on: January 04, 2004, 05:21:35 pm »
I have a WG Model 25k7191 it's in a vendetta four player machine.. I recently purchased a arcadevga card running it through a J-pac.....My problem is that the boot up screen where it shows the system info and windows screens strech past the monitor screen and the top, one or two inches of the screen are going to the right and want straighten up to the picture wether it be dos windows arcadeos i've switch to 640x288 but still the streching past the monitor as for the 1 or 2 inches at the top of the screen that i can't get aligned to the rest of the picture. I've ran a ati all in wonder card in my home computer for as long as i can remember and on certain driver installs over the years i world get the windows screen not fitting the computer screen as the arcadevga card does on the arcade monitor not until i installed the old drivers back or waited for newer ones was the problem fixed.

drop an email to andy--sounds like an arcadevga setup question.  Out of curiosity though is the fold over always occuring or does it only happen during bootup?
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Yes it is always like that. I had a g400 and used advanced mame and the screens were perfect but thought by getting a arcadevga would  allow me to do more and plus easier setup here is a pic

I use an ArcadeVGA together with the WG7191 and I have never seen anything like that.  I started my Mame installation with a fresh install of Windows.  Could it be problems with old drivers that you installed for another video card?  Make sure that you install the drivers from the cd because Windows will detect the ArcadeVGA and install drivers as the wrong card (I think it detects it as the original card that the ArcadeVGA is based on).

It looks like you need to adjust horizontal sync on your monitor chassis or the extension control pcb. This should fix the fold over. If the screen is stretched, why not adjust the vertical size control on your monitor as well? Arcade monitors are not like pc monitors, they don't have discrete memories for different scan rates. Sometimes, you have to make compromises.

I've installed windows several times and the drivers on the disk also. The screen does the samething in what ever mode it's in and also on the dos boot screen as for the horizontal sync a have two that i know of one on the pcb on the back of the tube and also on the box that also has bright, contrast, vsync and whatever else it has six controls on it when adjusting it though it only moves the top 1 inch of the picture, but its about two inches total so the top 1inch comes in line with alittle shaking the second inch stays the same as in the picture then the rest is fine.the extension control pcb i don't know where that is...The vertical screen size is fine it's the horizontal that is wrong windows and or all other things including dos boot screen streches past the screen from side to side not up and down.....here are some more pics

You may want to adjust the horiztonal hold controls.

Also, it may need a Cap Kit as well.
