Right to be forgotten

OK Yotsuya, Jenn has had her fun... And since you have been put in such a unique position of defending him, I will honor that decision by not posting on this subject any longer. (in all 3 threads).... And for what its worth Louis T. I have nothing against you, never have. Most of us have been subject of a thread like this, a time or two ::) And there would be no shame if you did come back.

Whether you understand his motives or not, even if you can't wrap your head around why he would do it that way, that is why he did it. At least he provided an explanation instead of just going, "Hey dudes, I'm back."

You're getting way too emotionally involved in this.

Believe it or not, Skippy, but when you pulled your hiding from the Mafia/IRS/Boss/Lover deletion of your other account, some of us were concerned about your well-being, too.

Thanks for stopping making this about you.

Holy crap, I'm wondering when Xiaou2 is gonna show up and round out this ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- show. Ugh.

--- Quote from: saint on February 16, 2015, 10:13:20 am ---I am open to suggestions on any changes to make. I'll add a couple of things to the mix:
I have changed people's usernames before at their request when they've wanted to scrub their Internet presence. In that case the content remained, but the name no longer related.
I have modified or removed very old posts before when someone had a similar situation but no longer had access, again at their request. I was able to do so in a way that minimized the effect on the thread.

Since it sounds like you are willing to work out alternative solutions and ultimately honor requests like this, I am all for putting down some limitations to the account as long as they don't inconvenience regular use.
I have come to the realization that that there are far more people than I thought who lurk here, who learn from projects and ideas and who study the information we put up. Offering alternative solutions to deleting every single post might be the best thing we can do. I met someone on the street the other day who after talking arcade cabinets for 5 minutes I found out he knew me, knew my projects, knew the projects of a lot of members here. and was excited to start his own project.
Are there capabilities to do something like limit the number of edits per week/day/hour? I'd think that 15 edits per hour maximum wouldn't affect anyone unless they are going through a mass deletion, or very, very, very pedantic.

From a new guy I think this covers it well. I have been reading these forums for a good couple of years, but just didn't have much to contribute. I managed to put together a haruman bartop, pretty much restore a completely converted MK, repair a Rush the Rock, and MAME out a golden tee (totally not a brag as my work isn't that good). I couldn't have done that without all the info on this site. It would be a shame if the one detail that might have helped someone get over the hump on their project got deleted for really any reason.
Malenko:
I dont really care if my posts are here after I go, but a kind chap offered me some scripts to delete everything if I chose to.
I think people should have the right to be removed from here, but there should be a better way than mass deletion. If someone wants to go, they have to go through all their posts and PM a mod links to all the posts they wanted edited or removed (assuming itd somehow connect their "real life" identity with their online one. And the change would be a one way trip, no CTRL+Z, no ooopsies, etc
I know this all stems from LT, and it sucks I didnt get to say goodbye to the guy, he seemed pretty awesome. He felt he needed to go, and well, you gotta respect that.
