Proper Height of Joystick Above Control Panel

(1/3) > >>

Hi guys,

I'm just about ready to install my joysticks but I am trying to figure out the best way to do so. That's why I am wondering how deep I need to route the wood from underneath.

MY Question: What is the ideal length of the joystick shaft measured from the top of the control panel up too the ball top?

thanks

Whatever feels best to you. I use short shaft Zippyy's on 1/2" and 3/4" mdf, no routing.  :dunno

Grab some scrap and try different depths.

Great idea, thanks!

It sounds cliche, but it depends. For 4 way classics, I like the ball top close to the panel.

One other thing..... I'm using 3/4 inch plywoood for my cp. if I undermount the joys is there a min thickness I should leave when and if I decide to route it?

How strong does it need to be? I'd hate for the joys to rip out lol
