Streaming an stand-up cabinet on Twitch?

(1/2) > >>

Hello,

So I've been getting into streaming PC games on Twitch lately and it's a lot of fun, but I also want to stream my MAME arcade sometime in the near future and I need some advice about what hardware I'd need.

Just to give you an idea of my setup, inside my arcade is this http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/precision-m6300/pd#TechSpec laptop that's decently powered for most classic gaming and I have a vga cable connected to my 27" Makvision monitor. Whats the best all around device that would be compatible?

Initially I wanted to get one of these http://amzn.com/B00MIQ40JQ little capture devices, so I could also stream my game consoles but since it's only HDMI I don't think there's anyway to get my arcade signal through it? Does anyone have any other recommendation for what I could use? Preferably a device that I could also stream console games as this one does.

Thanks!

I'd consider using a second PC to do your streaming instead of a gizmo.

while the gizmos are nice because they are plug and play, you don't really have the options available to switch things around like how you are mentioning with doing arcade/console etc...

with a 2nd PC setup SPECIFICALLY for streaming, you can easily add capture devices and switch easily between them.

etc. etc. etc.

it will initially be more expensive to set up, but your quality will be much much better and your frustrations will be much lower.

Oh, you meant A GAME. I thought you wanted to put a streaming camera inside an ARCADE.

Yeah, I though he meant Arcade (place) too at first instead of Arcade Machine.

I agree with lilshawn on the extra PC.  However, if space is an issue you can go with an external device too.  The main point being it should not take any resources off of the Arcade machine's PC.  An external PC would solve this.

I have an overwhelming urge to throw a tantrum every time someone uses the term ARCADE to describe a single machine.
....but I never do.

We just have to accept that the word is used differently now by younger generations.

It's really not that bad of an abomination.
It's still describing something that houses many coin operated games.

I'd rather a machine be referred to as an "arcade" than a "MAME", although technically I guess my cab is a multiple arcade machine emulator.

EDIT:  Oh, I see OP did call it his "MAME arcade"
double cry
