Need help with my Christmas list

Karpro:
I've been lurking here off and on for years since we built our new house and I started finishing the basement. The basement is just about done, finishing bar area now.  Every year the wife and kids ask what I want for Christmas and every year I tell them nothing, well this year I said I want the pieces to build a control panel for an arcade machine and the wife said "awesome, get me a shopping list"!  It seems the more I read the more confused I get. I'm leaning towards a four player panel, primarily for mame. I'll be playing mostly 70's-80's one and two player games but have a teenage boy that will want to play fighters, etc with his pals. I'd like a trackball as well.

Do any of the vendors offer prepackaged components or can you guys help me put together a list of the best currently available components to have her purchase?  Sorry if this has been asked and answered multiple times but like I said the more I read the further I got confused.

Edit: Looks like the four player is probably not worth the bother.

I say go 2 players. Your son and his friends will play it for a week or two then move on. If you're mainly playing 70s and 80s games, you won't need more than two.

Generic Eric:
You can find that on ebay.

Which websites are you familiar with?   Check out kadevice.com, arcadeemulator.Net, Groovygamegear.com,  ultimarc.com & paradisearcadeshop.com

Get a shopping list ready to get a sense of budget.

Mostly everyone can sell you jumpers for the encoder you choose.

Consider this:

What are your top ten games?
Can you play them on the same control panel?

Are you familiar with the 4 player pedestal that was the hotness this summer?

I'm on the mobile now, so finding the links is tedious; check out the wiki, and the UCAs.   Do you have an inspirational cabinet?
