I'd love a few dedicated but I've got it set to type, which is close enough for me. A vertical cab shmup, a 2 player 6 button fighter cab, a "dedicated" cab, and a 2 player 4 button "catch all(most)" pedestal. I don't count the kid builds, that's his ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.

Yep, that's the magic of MAME,  on that takes most people trial and error to discover. Don't try to build one machine that plays EVERYTHING, build a machine that plays ONE TYPE of game well, then, if you can, build ANOTHER that plays a different subset well, rinse and repeat.

A few years ago, I couldn't conceive having a mame cabinet with only 2 player buttons on it. When I started in this hobby, I didn't even understand why some people would want a cab with a vertical monitor. Just get a big enough Horizontal and problem solved, right?  :lol

The only think I do have to say is that I keep gutting my "master" cabs and regret not having one right now. I really wish I currently had one cab that was generic and did everything, even half-assed. At least for library purposes. I was driving myself mad the other day looking for Lazarian, I wanted to see if the mame emulation had improved on it. Turns out that I was looking for it on my vertical cab, but it was a horizontal game.

That's what my only true MAME cabinet is for. I have a 4-Way Verticals only cocktail cab, but still have them on my MasterMAME as well, just in case. My master have EVERY ROM on it, even if they don't show in the menu. I can whip out the keyboard and find what I want easy enough.

I wonder what it would be like to take an oak barrel through customs?
