ATOM-15: Make your own ArcadeVGA card ... ??

(1/1)

JoeB:
Not sure why no one is talking about the amazing new tool written by Calamity (author of the amazing GroovyMAME) which patches ATI BIOS dumps (you dump your BIOS, patch it, and write it back to the card) which allows you to select what monitor operational ranges you'd want when in non-windows mode (bootup/BIOS/DOS).

Using this tool, one can force their compatible ATI video card into 15khz mode on bootup and then CRTEmu/GroovyMame kick-in when windows/mame runs.

In effect, it's a full end-to-end solution like ArcadeVGA (except with more dynamic resolutions, and FREE).

So.. why is no one talking about this?? Anyone tried it out??

Sounds like a cool concept.

Where is it?

Generic Eric:
I tried to update a bios on a mobo.  It did not go well.

I suggest you first get crt emu working on you PCIe card. If it supports it then move on to the bios hack (otherwise you're just wasting your time)
