Yeah but how long does it take to heat up half a chicken? Cooking dinner and playing games at the same time sounds sweet.

+1. I have a Panasonic Viera 50" and although it does get warm (built in fan on the unit is quiet, but active) it is not excessively warm. However, I do have it mounted on the wall with no enclosure hampering ventilation.

older 42 philips plasma here... still 1080 display, but old enough to have an actual glass in the display. thing is heavy as all hell. you walk by it and you can feel the heat radiating off it after about 10 minutes.
i replaced it with a 55" LED. near zero heat even being left on all day.
