Gluing control panel overlay - will contact cement work?
emb:
I ordered a custom cp overlay from gameongrafix and decided to not get the adhesive underside (thinking I would use a sheet of clear acrylic on the top).
I was blown away by the print quality and durability of the overlay. So much in fact that I would like to not even use an acrilic sheet.
Given that, will contact cement work well to bond the overlay to my control panel? The control panel is made out of mdf and is curretly unpainted. The overlay is a polycarbonate laminate.
if contact cement is not a good idea -- do you have any other ideas?

Try a spray adhesive like 3M 77.

I have some of that in my garage. Do I need to paint my control panel and sand it then? I would prefer to not paint the CP to apply a spray adhesive.

I don't know. Anyone here have experience with that? I've only used it on painted surfaces, not raw MDF.

Thats fine, I can spray paint it tonight and sand it tomorrow. It only takes a couple minutes to apply. I was just hoping to get mounted tonight. No rush, only excitement ;)
