He was an all-around really good game show host and performer.  Look up clips of "Treasure Hunt" (or the New Treasure Hunt).  While technically a [Chuck Barris exploitative] game show, he had to learn and perform a whole bunch of skits based around some props in the box the ladies would pick.  Sad to hear.
