New Product: NanoLED USB Addressable LED Controller
kiwasabi:
How many LEDs per string will you be able to support in the future? Could you make it compatible with this for instance, which is 60LEDs?

As far as I can see that LED strip isn't addressable, just a simple RGB strip.

Great product, however I have some questions:
* Does it have support for 5 or 12V strings, or both?
* Will there be support for WS2801 in the future?

If the string has a 12 volt supply line for the LEDs this would be no problem. Separate LED power must be applied to the string regardless of whether the string is 5 or 12 volt. This must be a high enough current to drive all LEDs which can be a high demand for long strings.
The number of supported LEDs is limited by available RAM in the device. Also the current protocol used by the PacLED64 is 64 LED only so I need to change the protocol to cater for more LEDs, which I will do.
But in practice if the string is too long the overall current consumption becomes very high so I would think the limit needs to be something like 50 RGB LEDs.
Supporting the WS2801 would not be a problem, I can produce a firmware for this if required.
I have a basic video on my iPAD which shows the default script running which includes overlapping fades. Getting this onto Youtube seems more difficult than developing the device! Its not letting me upload anything as it fails username/password although I am already logged into Youtube!

I have added a website page and link to a short video:
