i am running mame 124 on my cabinets, and i recently upgraded from a 3ghz p4 pc  to a 3.2ghz Phenom II X4 system, so i have a little more horsepower to work with. are there any must have games that i am missing by not upgrading to a more recent version of mame?

Cave games maybe? Ddp 2 bee storm? What do you like?

severdhed:
i'm into mostly classics, beat em ups and fighting games.  but there may be other awesome games that i'm not aware of.

0.124 is from 23 Mar 2008

so there are over 5 years of improvement / additions / changes.

even just a few releases after the one you're using support for "Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes-" was added for example and that feels like it's been emulated forever now!

There was also the Jackie Chan games

or Shogun Warrors (not as good tho)

Alien Challenge was one of IGS' first non-mahjong / puzzle games, and was popular in China at least

That's just looking at some fighting games.. there have of course been beat 'em ups added too, and many classic style games as well as numerous improvements to existing emulations..

Over the course of the most recent couple of MAME releases I've also made 'Fighters History' work properly (would previously glitch out on the final bosses)

I did do a state of the MAME/MESS project writeup for 2012, but there is no such thing for the other years ;-)

In terms of Beat 'em Ups..

Age of Heroes - Silkroad 2

B Rap Boys

and again various improvements to existing emulations like Knights of Valor Superheroes
