TurboTwist 2 with Ultimarc knob?
thatpurplestuff:
Hey guys,
I am in the market for a pair of spinners and was hoping to pick up a couple from GGG my my upcoming cabinet build, but I really like the look of the Ultimarc knobs:
I foolishly went ahead and bought red and blue knobs from Ultimarc (just the knobs no spinner) last night and just assumed that they would fit the TurboTwist 2 spinner... after further research (which probably should have been done before I whipped out the credit card) the shafts for the TT2's are .25" (6.35mm) while the SpinTrak shafts are 6mm. Will this be a problem or are those measurements close enough?
Would definitely appreciate any info before I make my spinner purchase, since the answer to this question decides whether I go with a couple of TurboTwist 2's or SpinTraks! Thanks in advance!

If you have, or know someone with a .2505 reamer, it'll be a simple matter to make the knob fit. You might also be able to do it with a standard drill bit, but if the hole is off, it will "wobble" when you spin it.
If you want to send them to me, I can do this for you at no charge and return it in the same box with the spinners ;)

From the man himself! I would be sincerely grateful if you could do that for me since I don't know a soul that has a .2505 reamer haha. I'll be placing my order for the spinners at the end of this month... could you message me an address that I could use to get the knobs to you? (I may have a box around here from one of my previous orders that has your address on it, but I'm not sure).
Again, I sincerely appreciate the offer and I hope you don't mind that I actually plan on taking you up on it!

Heh, not at all. PM on the way.

Best suggestion is of course RandyT's offer to ream the knobs, but in a pinch, considering .35mm is only just over one hundredths of an inch, baking the knobs in your oven @ 375 degrees for 20min and leaving the spinners in the freezer for an hour might afford you enough themal expansion to slip them on (this is assuming the heat didn't destroy the nice anodizing job on the knobs). Though you might be in trouble if you ever wanted to remove them from the shafts at a later date :dunno
