Please help me to identify my cabinet

(1/2) > >>

konaboy:
HI, I'm new to this hobby and this is my first post here.  I need some help to identify a cabinet that I have recently purchased.

It's a beater, very ugly and has been modified over the years.  It is missing some electronics and obviously doesn't work.

Doesn't matter, it will be a MAME conversion.

I am curious about the origins and history of this cabinet.  Can anybody give me any information about this cab?  PUrchased in Sweden but I imagine that it was imported.

cheers

ps. why the captcha for registered users?  so far it's taken me 4 unsuccessful attempts...

Malenko:
I wanna say a Sega/Gremlin cab, but that coin door is unlike anything Ive ever seen. In Europe the cabs are usually very different that here in the states, so I wish I could be of more help. Im assuming no labels or manufacturer plates to be found anywhere?

konaboy:
thanks, I did a google image for those terms but didn't find a match.  I found however a lot of Taito cabinets that were similar in many ways, the curved side and the instep on the front.  Couldn't find an exact match though.

I've gutted and cleaned the can, unfortunately there were no identification marks.

Whilst I have your attention, is it normal for arcade cabs to be built with chipboard (low density particle board)?  I hate this stuff and had previously assumed that cabs built to take a beating in the arcade would be made in plywood which is much stronger.  I hate working chipboard. it is very weak and crumbles apart on the edges.

Malenko:
most are made from chipboard / MDF

Can't help identify it but I kind of like it!   I like the 70's feel!
