On the off-chance OpenJamma does not come to fruition....
nagamitsu:
What would you guys suggest/recommend? I feel the X-in-1 game board are a bit pricey IMO, and would they function as a Jamma board plugged into harness?
My other thought is I start buying cheap original PCB games, a bit of a pain swapping in what I want to play, and will be limited on total number of games I would have in possession.
I still have fingers crossed OpenJamma board comes available, but it's been quiet in way of progress/updates.

a second-hand pc

Wasn't planning on going MAME route. Have used MAME on the kids PC, perfectly fine, but wanted to keep my cab as it is with Jamma harness etc. :)
BobA:
Keep the jamma harness and go for a jpac to connect to a PC.

Not trying to knock openjamma or embedded devices in general, hell I was in line to test the device and i sincerely hope he is still working on openjamma.
With that being said however, Mame, retroarch etc were primarily meant and optimized for PCs. Right now that's really the most optimal solution even though it may not be Jamma compatible out of the box.
