Atari cabaret plans?
nitz:
Decided on a project I want to do this summer - saw a Centipede cabaret (though converted to Arkanoid) at my local arcade and love it. Planning a scratch build based on it.
Trouble is I can't find plans. Jakobud doesn't have 'em, and Googling turned up very little. Best I could find is this http://www.ggdb.com/GameByName.aspx?c=Coin-Op&s=Arcade&l=C&vid=503 which really only tells me overall height, width, and depth, and this thread with a rough sketch: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,120755.msg1281405.html
The plans in that thread are actually enough to go on, but alfonzotan says it's imprecise and I'm not even sure it's an Atari cabaret - looks like it could be a conversion, but might just be a scratch build based on it.
Anyone know where I can find plans for this? Or if anyone has one of these and wouldn't mind taking a few measurements for me, it'd be much appreciated.

That isn't a real Atari cabaret in the link. I had a Centipede cabaret in my game room for a long time and that isn't one.
The coin door is in the wrong place, there is no sign on the inside that huge Atari transformer and fuse assembly was ever there. No holes on the right side where the old stuff would have been mounted. No service panel on top of the coin box, and no holes where it used to have been.
DPTwiz on klov sells brand new CNC cut centipede cabaret cabs for $400 so the plans must be out there.

Does it have to be an "exact" replica? I experienced this same issue some time back and just decided that a 1/4" difference here or there really isn't that big a deal. Just wing it and make it look the best you can...

Good observations, I thought something seemed off about it. The people who made it were obviously inspired by that particular cab then.

Nah, I'm not going for an exact replica. I'm not gonna make it quite so deep for one thing, plus I plan to use a Midway coin door since I really like them and I have one. Probably not gonna theme it after an Atari game either.
But having said that, I really suck at winging stuff like this. I'd love to have a plan to look at for stuff like how high should the control panel be and how tall is the monitor area.

Have you looked at Gozer's sketchup collection.
He has an Atari Missile Command cabaret here and several other cabarets.
Some other guys made a Tempest, an Asteroids with sideart, and an Asteroids without sideart, but I'm not sure how accurate those are. :dunno
