Will the current MAME work with this?
darkSSide:
I have an old CP with these specs
Pentium 4
CPU 2.69 GHz
2.59 GHZ 1.24 GB RAM
Running XP pro
My question is can it run the current MAME? Or frontends like the recent Mala or Hyperspin? I really just want it to run '80's and '90's games and some Tekken and Killer Instinct ,that sort of stuff.
I know I used an older version before but since deleted it after I got my newer CP running Windows 7.
Any help is appreciated,Thanx

You realize you basically said, "I just want to run the stuff that would run on a late 90s PC oh and also a couple of 3D titles that take ridiculous processor power to emulate".
I would probably actually run mame .106 on that rig instead of the current one. Your performance and overall experience would be a lot better. No promises on Tekken or KI though.

.106 is the first version of the rewrite, I use .105 on my P4 rigs.
good day.

Actually .107 had the video rewrite. But you can still force newer mame versions to run like the old. Read the docs.

Just to digress a little bit from the original post, I'm thinking about building a Core i3 3225 with HD Graphics 4000 system for MAME, this CPU works really well for HTPC setups.
3D games aren't of massive priority for me, however, I've seen the 'ArcadeVGA 3000' card name thrown around a lot (not sure if it's good or bad). So I guess my question is with modern hardware are the integrated graphics processors like the Intel HD 4000 going to work well for MAME 80's/90's game emulation? I'd like to think that something like the NeoGeo based Aero Fighters 3 is going to run nice without slowdowns when things get busy.
Thanks.
