High Scores Issue...MINOR
« on: March 28, 2013, 09:27:43 am »
Hey Guys,

I was playing "The Time Machine"  :) - with my son and his friend last night when I noticed certain games(1943, QBert and there was another but I forget the name) would list the wrong name or high score as the default HS at the top of the screen or varioutions of those two combined.  Example 1943 had my previous high score up there but it showed the initials as "RR" when I am "RTK" - While playing I broke tat HS and the number was reflected while the other person finished playing and I was dead as "RRR" instead of "RTK"  but once the boy finished playing It list the High Scores and it accurately has that info.  Qbert default shows 3000 as HS...even though my HS is like 10k...get to the HS listing and it is accurately displayed.

Anyone seen this before or even understand what I am saying  :)
Thanks,
Rich

Your hiscore.dat needs to match the ROM version for the game. If not the memory locations could be off.

Where do you get your hiscore.dat file from?

If you want your FE to display your hiscores using HiToText the latest official Hiscore.dat file that works with it is available on the Hiscore.dat-astic! website. But I believe development was stopped after MAME 0.139.

If I enable Hiscoredat I get and error with CPWizard and GameEx...so it is not that big a of a deal as the HS are there.  I just thought it was weird.  I am running 143 I believe as my main emulator and 129 as a backup for the game that do not work on 143.  Thanks for the info...that does make sense.

A newer version of hiscore.dat is available here so you might want to give that one a try.
