Using gamecube controllers on wii but 2nd spot broken?
« on: December 24, 2012, 11:04:02 pm »
I'm bringing a 2 player fighting game to my cousin's house tomorrow. When you play it you can use a wii controller with nunchuk or gamecube controller. We plug the first gamecube controller into the first outlet with no problem. However, my cousin's 2nd outlet it broken so player 2 is forced to use a wii controller. Is there any way to fix this without buying a new wii?

Check the port for dust or other debris and if that isn't the problem its probably possible to replace the port itself...maybe.  Someone with more experience might chime in on the difficulty of such an endeavor but this page (with video) should give an idea of what to expect.  adding gc ports to a wii that doesnt have any

I've replaced the ports on a GC.  Sure, it isn't a Wii itself, but the concept is the same.  I believe it was just a bunch of screws and a thin ribbon cable that you had to plug in.  If you can find a dirt cheap broken Wii somewhere like ebay, it shouldn't be too difficult to switch it out.  You obviously just need to pay attention to what screws go where and all that.
