Lag with reaction games, when using MAME/Emulators

Hammerfist:
To partially answer to my question and to some of my comments:

I realized yesterday testing my cabs software, that the Pacman I played earlier, which led me to starting this thread, was some other version than the original Midway Pacman. This I found out, by playing the Midway Pacman rom yesterday and it worked as it should. The one I tried earlier, had this thing, that you had to push the joystick all the time if you wanted to move in to some direction. I have to check what it was later, when I have time.

About the switches; I think I'll keep using the ones I have, testing them more to see if they actually affect the gameplay. I'll look around to find out what switches ppl prefer. If you have some tips, please do share. Thanks for all the help and comments, always interesting and a learning experience!

Hammerfist, is there a reason you aren't comparing like for like? Why not Ms Pacman on MAME?

Good question :) . Mainly because the first time I thought about this problem, was with the first Pacman game I tried with my Mame cab (and as I mentioned in my last post, which was different to the Midway Pacman I tried yesterday which felt as it should). I wrote this question knowing that the original Pacman and Ms. Pacman have the same feel, so I didn't come to think about comparing 100% like to like. But it's all good now, since the problem was the weird (to me atleast) version. I'll compare the missus with missus now that you mentioned it. Thanks! (I have to read my posts about five times today before posting..just to make sure I make even remotely any sense :D More coffee and less sleep? )
