My PC is dead - whats a good replacement ? ps2 / keywiz concerns ?
(1/1)
Tonyjambo:
So when i built my cab i just used an old Dell Dimension 4450 I had lying around, yesterday the AGP graphics card died and I think i might use it a san excuse to put in a better machine. Any thoughts as to what I should be looking at ? One thing I'm conscious of is that I'd like a PS2 interface for the keywiz and the trackball if possible and i dont see too many pc's nowdays with ps2 ports.
Am i worrying about nothing with the keywiz and would it be fine with a ps2 -> usb adapter ?
Main reason for extra processing power is to run emus other than mame.

I bought an Asus Core-2 Quad a couple of years ago, which is a lot of machine, and it has a PS/2 port for the keyboard. A PS/2 to USB converter is fine for a trackball, but not the best solution for a KeyWiz.
I don't know what your budget is, but this i5 Quad looks like bargain, and it has both. There are still plenty of options out there with the full complement of ports. It's only the systems or manufacturers looking to save a buck, or don't have the space on the back panel, which exclude the legacy ports. If you're into building your own, it's also not difficult to find new motherboards with both.
