It seems like they are meant for new construction cabinets that may not have a coin door, but I'm retrofitting MAME into a neogeo cab and would love to use these as my coin1 and coin2 buttons, while still maintaining some realism to the door without the addition of more buttons.

I have seen this done, but for the life of me, I can't find the photo.  The individual who did what you are considering did a very clean job of retrofitting the buttons to the coin slots on the door and it looked like it was meant to be that way.  But they are not "drop-in" compatible and I imagine it took some work to get it looking that nice.  I'm always impressed at what folks do with our parts.

That being said, if I could get some exact dimensions from someone for the mounting holes in the standard doors, I'd be happy to look at offering an "adapter plate" option for this type of application.  Our laser is more than capable of making a nice part to simplify this approach.

Maybe you could make a hard plastic MAME coindoor that has no coin function, but has coin rejects that work as coin buttons? I bet that would sell decent.

But, can you mount it to a frickin' shark's head?  Does it go "pew pew pew" when you fire it?  If not, I'm not interested...
