Added buttons for Arcade

(1/1)

daruble:
Ok my name is Dave and yes I know happ has a program that helps design your control panel. But I am working on my first arcade and I am trying to figure out what I need in the way of controls. I am running Hyperspin, Mame, Atari 2600/5200/7800/Jaguar, Nintedo all of them, Sega all of them, and Mattle Intellivison. But my question really is how do I fit all of this on the Control Panel. I mean I have to be able to navigate Hyperspin and be able to play the games with the controls I install right. I am planing on this being two player control panel only and then use Xbox style for players 3 and 4

So what I am considering is trying buy most of the odder controllers like the Intellivison or atari's paddles in a USB connection. I have seen a few available online on www.retrozone.com and http://www.dascheap.com/retro-classic-games.html Then I will add a USB hub some where on my arcade that way I could also use this for PC sterring wheels perhaps.

I was considering for the rest of the consols like Nes, super nes, n64, Segas and other I would use the XBox 360 wirless PC connection.

I really want to know what buttons people have added on their own control panels that help you work with in mame or find use full do you have a volume control? Mute? Suggestion of what you wish you had put on the control panel mayeb

I have bought the following so far :)

--------------------------------------------------------------

Mag-Stik Plus

Worlds only Magnetically Centered Joystick!
4-8 Way Switchable from top of the panel.

The Mag-Stik is not centered by a spring but using an internal magnet. A light action gives the ultimate in joystick feel and sensitivity.
Also switches from 4 to 8 way mode from the top of the panel!
This is the only joystick in the world which can be switched over from 4 to 8 way from the top with no lever or other unsightly intrusion. Keeps the panel arcade-real but still gives the ability to play all 4 or 8 way games with the true feel of the correct mechanically-limited stick.
To switch: Pull out the stick against the spring pressure, continue pulling while rotating, until the mechanism engages, then turn anticlockwise for 8-way, or clockwise for 4-way. The stick clicks into position when turned 45 degrees. The mechanism actually rotates an internal restrictor plate and also rotates the microswitch actuator for a perfect 4-8 way transition.

Avoid trying to cover too much. Set it up to play as much as you can without being overly complicated. If it just confuses your guests, you've done it wrong.
