Configuring U360 joystick?

(1/2) > >>

P-chan:
Ok, so I got my control panel all wired up, I have joystick #1 and #2 assigned different ID's as per the directions on the Ultimarc site.  However, I have a few issues/questions:

1)  How do I re-map the joystick to recognize the correct directions?  Obviously I could unscrew the circuit board and rotate it, but for instance, my joystick #1 shows up as moving left when it should be pointing down.

2) How do I tell the joystick there is an octagonal restrictor installed?  The Ultimarc site says that there is an option for it in the UltraMap software, but this is what I have:

3) How do I configure a front end (or MAME itself) to automatically load maps upon game selection?  For instance, if I select "Galaga" the joystick should recognize that it needs to be in 2-way mode, or 4-way mode for pac-man, for instance.  I can tell on this page : http://ultimarc.com/ultrastik_prog.html  how do possibly do it with MAMEwah, but what about other frontends?

Thanks everyone!

Also, I would suggest getting some Windows 7 instructions /screenshots up there, things are a little different in the control panel than they were 10 years ago :)

1) Easy way is to rotate the board....Its only 4 screws.

2) I believe the Circular is the same at octagon.

3) LEDblinky can take care of this. You do not need to have any LED's. The software has a check box to use the u360's and it will load the right maps in you frontend.

Hope that helps.

Note you can check the board is the right way as it has "Top" marked on it.

But you can rotate the faceplate also. It might be easier. 4 screws on the front of the plate.

Thanks bbee383!  I guess you're right, it's only 4 screws, lol.

I will check out LEDBlinky, thanks for the suggestion!
