Programs for designing cabs
mo1e:
Hello all im wondering what programs you guys use to design a cab? some of the design pictures on here look awesome.
SavannahLion:
I think most members mention what tool they use. From what I see, it's usually Sketchup for the 3D renders, AutoCAD software for the layouts and, sometimes, for the precise measurements. Visio is used sometimes for button placement. Artwork tools vary depending on what is trying to be done but PhotoShop is a popular choice for the raster. I can't recall the vector tool of choice.
It really boils down to what you're comfortable with and what you have availabe. I've seen some excellent cabs designed with nothing more than a pencil and paper.
elkameleon:
Illustrator for vector if you can afford(read: pirate) it.
yotsuya:
I use Illustrator. It's great, allows me to be very precise, and once you learn it, it's easy to use.
And I didn't pirate it.
Mental:
It's a little overkill, but SolidWorks is pretty awesome.
