Mounting PC in Cocktail

(1/3) > >>

CWorley:
Any tips for mounting a pc in a cocktail cab?  I know to use a free/cheap replacement for the pcb standoffs.  Should I mount some of the pieces on the sides of the cabinet and not all on the bottom?  Is there a particular type of bracket that people use to mount the hard drive, psu, and cd/dvd drive to the wood?  Is it best to mount it on a removable piece of wood?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Nephasth:
I cannibalized an old computer case for the parts I needed (mobo tray, I/O panel, hard drive bracket) and painted them to match some other components of my build.

I used threaded inserts to mount the brackets to the cab. You can see the ones for the hard drive bracket to the left of the mobo tray.

most of these cases are riveted, how did you pop them out?

Nephasth:
I used a drill... or maybe a cutoff wheel. I re-rivetted the I/O panel back onto the mobo tray after I painted them.

Hmm, thats a good idea... What did you use to re-rivet them if I may ask?
